My Story
Hello, I’m Isabelle
A wellness advocate, healer, yoga teacher and fellow human on the path to my highest self. My journey has been anything but ordinary, and I want to share it with you because I believe our stories connect us.
For a long time, I lived a busy life in the hospitality world. Always on my feet, chasing success and performance. I owned a restaurant in New York with my husband, and I loved the people, but the stress and long hours slowly took a toll on my body and soul. I felt burnt-out and empty, searching for something to help me feel whole again.
One day, I stepped into a yoga class, mostly looking for stress relief. What I found was so much more. Yoga felt like coming home to myself. The movement, the breath, the stillness. It helped me cope during those hectic hospitality days.
It saved my sanity, and soon I wanted to learn everything about it so I could share this feeling with others.
Journey Through Healing
Just when life seemed to be on track, in 2017 I was diagnosed with a life-changing condition. An autoimmune disease, called multiple sclerosis. In an instant, I went from teaching others about wellness to needing to stop and focus on taking care of my own health. I was scared. I couldn't work, I couldn't cook, and I couldn't play, overwhelmed with anxiety about my future and what this meant for my life.
Instead of giving up, I turned more deeply to the tools I knew: gentle yoga, breathwork, meditation, and the support of holistic therapies. Day by day, breath by breath, I learned how to truly heal myself - sculpting from the inside out a new version of myself. I let myself be vulnerable. Asking for help, resting when I needed to, and embracing each small victory. There were tears and doubts, but also profound moments of peace where I felt a light on the other side of the pain.
Over time, those moments of peace grew. My body responded to the care and love I was giving it. I slowly regained my strength and confidence. This journey humbled me and changed me forever. I realized healing is not about perfection or “fixing” oneself – it’s about remembering, becoming whole and deeply listening to your soul.
What I didn't understand then, but see clearly now, is that I was being given an opportunity through my own wounds, the path of the injured healer. This experience, though painful at the time, allowed me to go deeper into the healing process and ultimately serve others from a place of authentic understanding. My own healing journey became the foundation for holding space for others in their transformation.
My Mission & Values
My mission is simple: to create a sanctuary, just as yoga created one for me.
At Yoga Peace & Love, everything I do is with intention and heart. I strive to create a space where you feel safe and supported, no matter where you're starting from. I lead with authenticity and vulnerability, encouraging you to come as you are, and promise to meet you with compassion.
Whether in a group class or private session, we move at your pace. No pressure, just healing. I believe in engaging the senses and being fully present, whether through breath, touch, or nature.
Above all, Yoga Peace & Love is a family. Where everyone is welcome and we grow together.
Moving from Canada to the US, and now calling beautiful Costa Rica my home, I’ve learned that home is ultimately within us. My journey has taken me through ups and downs, and each step has prepared me to guide others with empathy and love.
I’m here for you. Whether you’re dealing with something big – an illness, stress, trauma – or simply seeking a more meaningful way to live day-to-day, I want you to know you’re not alone. There is hope, and there are tools that can help.
